About the Program
On the Navajo Reservation, 99% of children qualify for free school lunches—part of a great federal program that ensures kids can concentrate on their studies, but one that doesn’t do much for empty stomachs over the weekend. ANA has partnered with Gallup’s Community Pantry to offer bags full of healthy snacks to students in over 30 schools this year. Under the program, every Friday, participating schools identify students with the greatest need who receive food to eat over the weekend. Thanks to ANA’s generous donors, the program has grown from $10,000 in 2004 to $178,400 for 2024-2025.
The Pantry has expanded to feed 1,056 children in the Food for Kids program,
and many others through the Kids Cafe, which provides after school snacks!
